Grigorian Rusu Gallery The Island Weiss Gallery is proud to introduce a large selection of works on paper by Romanian-born, New York based artist Grigorian Rusu. On view are works that show the breadth, as well as range in scale and style of Rusu’s works, which oscillate between his interest both in still lives and abstract compositions. Yet, closer examination reveals an unmistakable visual language of recognizable marks that permeate all of his works on paper. Creating a lively dialogue between color and line, between representation and abstraction, and between his architectural and artistic background, all evoke the impact that living in multiple cities has had on his life and work. His drawings show a mature personal vocabulary that is unique to the artist, while evoking a sensibility that recognizes the impact of lessons learned as an artist and individual living in a global society.
